Woman airlifted to hospital after being struck by boat propeller

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a woman to hospital, after she was seriously injured in a boat accident, this afternoon.

It’s believed the female patient was the passenger in a tinnie, which struck a submerged object, in a dam, in the South Burnett.

As a result of the crash, the woman was thrown from the vessel and subsequently struck by the boat’s propeller. 

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew was called to the region at 5:40pm. 

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics initially treated the patient, aged in her 50s, before transporting her to a nearby showground, to rendezvous with the rescue chopper crew.

She was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, with a serious hand injury.

The patient travelled in a stable condition, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
