Seriously injured motorbike rider airlifted to hospital

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a motorcycle rider to hospital after a serious accident, west of the Sunshine Coast.

It’s believed, the motorcyclist collided with a car on a bend in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The rescue helicopter flew to the scene at 10:15am (Saturday 16th), where the pilot was able to land in a paddock about 500 metres from the accident.

The aeromedical team worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient for severe lower limb injuries.

The male, aged in his fifties, was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and a QAS Flight Paramedic.
