Woman airlifted to hospital after boating accident

The Land Rover LifeFlight Special Mission helicopter has flown a woman to hospital, after she was injured in a boating accident, in the Somerset region.

The rescue chopper, which is currently based on the Sunshine Coast, was sent to the scene just after 4:30pm this afternoon (Sunday 12th December).

It’s believed a woman, aged in her fifties, had been riding an inflatable tube behind a boat, when she fell into the water and was injured, while the boat was turning.

She was taken to shore shortly after the incident.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), paramedics were on scene treating the patient, before the rescue chopper arrived.

The aeromedical crew assessed the woman for suspected spinal injuries, before airlifting her to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
