The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown an injured man to hospital, after the gravel truck he was driving rolled over, leaving him entrapped in the cabin.
The truck was turning onto a highway in the Bundaberg region, when it rolled onto its side.
The rescue chopper was called into action just before 11 o’clock this morning.
The pilot landed the aircraft next to the accident scene.
The crew joined Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers in helping to extract and treat the patient.
Once he was freed from the cabin, the man, who is aged in his 50s, was transferred to the aeromedical helicopter and flown to Bundaberg Hospital, under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue QAS Flight Paramedic.
He travelled in a serious but stable condition, with suspected head injuries.
