The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a teenage driver to hospital, after a two vehicle crash, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland this morning (Sunday 4th Oct).
The helicopter flew to the scene just before 9:30am.
The pilot was able to land on a stretch of road, which had been closed by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
It’s believed the patient, aged in his late teens, had been driving a 4WD ute, when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
His vehicle reportedly rolled, before coming to rest on its roof.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel were in attendance, when the aeromedical team arrived.
The patient was trapped in his vehicle, for over 30 minutes, before being freed.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic joined other QAS paramedics in treating the teenager, for lower limb injuries.
He was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
